Discovering our Spiritual Superpower: What do we rest our heart upon?

Together, we’ll explore different aspects of faith as a beautiful spiritual superpower, engaging with heart qualities such as courage and trust. In these challenging times, we so need to be able to stand upon a reliable foundation from which to engage with the world from our most responsive, wise, and open heart. By understanding and connecting more deeply to what sustains us, what truly matters to us, we can begin to live our lives as an act of faith.

Mercy, Compassion & Power: A Daylong for Women Exploring How Our Vulnerability is a Doorway to Our True Power

Forget your perfect offering/There's a crack in everything/That's how the light gets in

Leonard Cohen's invitation to put down our strivings for perfection and embrace our humanness, our vulnerabilities, our foibles and mistakes, allows us to truly embrace of our power as women. Together in this daylong, we'll explore how offering ourselves a tender heart, full of mercy and compassion, can help dissolve who we think we should be, and allow us to rest in and gain strength and wisdom from who we truly are.

Parenting with Kind Awareness: A 3-Day Non Residential Retreat

This integrative 3-day retreat will allow us to explore how it is to be "on retreat" and at home or at work, and in the beautiful chaos of daily life with kids. On Thursday and Friday mornings, we'll meet at Spirit Rock and enjoy periods of "formal" sitting and walking meditation. We'll have teachings and discussions about bringing kind awareness to ourselves and our kids. The afternoon and evening retreat time will be back in your life:  back at work or engaged in the  pick-up-after-school-dinner-homework-bedtime rituals. We'll have time on Friday and Saturday to share how it is to bring our practice home. Saturday will be a full day at Spirit Rock, with more time for teachings, discussions, time for silent walking and sitting meditation and an emphasis on cultivating a sense of much needed parent community. 9 CEUs are available. Check out Spirit Rock's website!

Money & Dharma: Cultivating Our Inner and Outer Sense of Worth

Regardless of our current financial situation—whether we can barely make ends meet or we have a free flowing supply of disposable income— what we tell ourselves about money profoundly impacts our happiness, health and our ability to manifest our gifts in the world. In this daylong we'll lean into the Buddhist teachings about clear seeing, equanimity, letting go and generosity to gain more ease in our relationship to money. Together, we'll explore our conditioning and beliefs around money and our sense of worth.

“Our bodies know that they belong; it is our minds that make our lives so homeless.” –John O’Donohue

So much of our suffering can come from feelings of disconnection and separation— from ourselves and from the people and world around us. For many of us, this suffering is fueled by the stories we tell ourselves about our lives; stories about our lack of belonging. This daylong is an invitation for women to come together to practice in community and begin to understand and relax the hold of some of these stories. When we quiet the mind and open our hearts, we can begin to touch into our innate feminine wisdom and sense the truth of our deep belonging to the world.

The daylong will offer periods of sitting and walking meditation, drawing from both Insight (Vipassana) and heart meditation practices. There will also be teachings, guided meditations and time for focused discussions. New and experienced meditators who self-identify as women are welcome.

Psychotherapy & The Art of Deep Listening

“Listening is an attitude of the heart, a genuine desire to be with another which both attracts and heals.”       Christopher J. Isham

As therapists, we listen. We listen to people talk about their lives, their struggles, their joys and sorrows. But how do we listen?

This talk will explore ways to cultivate a deep listening presence for our clients, and for ourselves. We’ll look at how the threads of intention, body awareness, and directed attention weave a tapestry of deep presence. By first offering this presence to ourselves we can quiet the mind, and allow our deepest wisdom to guide us with our clients. Mark Nepo writes to listen is “to lean in, softly with a willingness to be changed.” When we, as therapists, allow ourselves to be changed by our clients, the shared space becomes sacred, and the healing more profound.

Drawing upon the principles of mindfulness and existential–humanism, Grace will include poetry, stories, offer experiential exercises, and allow time for discussion.
